They did it again

A couple of weeks ago, HughesNet degraded their service yet again. Um, their already dialup-over-the-satellite slow connection has gotten even s-l-o-w-e-r.

How do I know this? Gmail used to take me straight into my inbox. Now, it tells me my internet connection is slow and tells me to use the basic HTML version.

HughesNet continues to make their bad business model worse.

Soon it won't be my concern.

Agree. I just purchased the small biz package and it is worse than the pro level.

Have been to the top, got the pin number, talked to tech level 4, talked to INDIA etc. Still I have uploads speeds of 15kbps, less than dial up.

HughesNet is blatantly putting out propaganda about the 'broadband experience' and overcrowding their satellites.

HughesNet does suck, bad!

There's a company on the East Coast that has a commercial application that provides internet service over electric power lines.

It works and they're well-known for other commercial internet provider services (not residential yet tho) for businesses. So hopefully, they'll be rolling it out for residential sometime soon.

Satellite ISP used to be a viable alternative before last year even though it's not as fast as broadband and it was faster than regular dialup back then. That's changed this past year for the worse.

Just like anonymous stated. I also “upgraded” to a business package. Now I have upload speeds that average 17kps. Yes you read correctly. I have been to tier 4 on 4 separate occasions. Had three complete system change outs. Now Hughes says that “It’s a bandwidth issue” and “This is all the speed you are going to get”. Some time at the end of October my service degraded from 1.2mps down and 210kps up to 560 kps down and 17kps up. I cannot even submit time sheets to the corporate server and as a result I can’t get paid. I have written the Fed department of consumer affairs. I suggest everyone do so. We need to get a class action going.

I read somewhere else that this was a result of the downloading where ISPs are trying to protect themselves against the RIAA.

Nonsense.

As far I can figure, there's no way to tell a legal download from an illegal download.

This whole thing is just an excuse by the ISPs to jack prices up.

fuck hughesnet. this is the shittiest fuckin excuse for a "high speed internet". someone should fuckin sue this place for false advertising. highspeed internet my ass. i have waited on a webpage to load so long that i accually took a shit and got back and it still wasnt fuckin done. i cant attach anything to my emails cuz this "amazing" high speed internet i purchased for 100 bux a fuckin month wont let me. theres a fuckin download and upload limit and i seem to go over that with ease everyday. webpages dont load up fast enuf. if i want the unlimited shit then i gotta pay 200+ a month for it. its fuckin robbery. its a fuckin piece of shit. i hope someone sues hughesnet for every goddam penny they got and each and everyone of their fuckin asses. fuck hughesnet. i wouldnt recommend this shitty connection to anyone. too bad cable doesnt come up to where we live or id have that shit in a heartbeat but im goin back to dial up. fuck hughesnet. fuck hughesnet fuck hughesnetfuckhughesnetfuckhughesnet this place is fuckin shitty

And god forbid you don't pay your bill on time. They start slowing your service down to a crawl slower than dial-up, and every time you try to access the internet, they degrade your service by having a damn page pop up from HughesNet telling you to pay your bill.

Even if you call them to explain why your payment is going to be a week late, they say they can't bring you back up to speed or allow you to use the internet without being blocked because it's 'out of their control'. Bullshit.

Unfortunately, we live in an area where we only have the choice of using HughesNet or Dial-up, while one block away, everyone has cable and/or DSL. If I could move, I would.

Something needs to be done to HughesNet for their unfair practices.

Fuck HughesNet. I'm really considering making a petition or a boycott or suing or something I'm so fed up. They false advertise by saying they provide speeds at a whopping 10MB/s but I'm getting around 500kb/s CONSISTENTLY and even worse upload. "Watch movies and TV over the internet." Yeah, movies my ass. Maybe a fucking trailer but one movie would destroy your whole balance and set you back to the 90's in speed terms. And forget about online gaming even with the best package because my ping is consistently in the 1,000s. Sometimes in the 60,000s. And to think I'm paying $80/mo for this bullshit! This shit should be illegal. And forget the capitalistic mentality of "choice", because HughesNet has established a monopoly on the whole area I live in, so I can't buy anything else but this shit. I can't change anything about it, because every time I call I get forwarded to Dave in Pakistan or Jakfuckistan or Hell wherever the shit these bastards are and they tell me "Oh, joo need to restaht joo moteem, and have nice day." Same here. Cant watch any videos even when the anytime minutes are Over 65 percent. Last month took 4 days to upgrade computers to win 10 until i called them. There exra time between 2 am to 8 am is plain stupid. Who stays up all night to use internet. Tonight i cant even watch the news videos or any to be exact. They just load and load eating up there ripoff data plan and never play. Been with this ripoff company for almost 2 years and the day they steal the last payment im cancelling this sad excuse for a company. Be quicker to swim over to where the news articles come from than this goddam crap they swindle.

Actually pulled the elec plug out of wall to disable my new computer this goddam ripoff company pissed me off so much. Getting comcast and will disconnect the modem from my wireless router and plug them in. Few more months and they can come get the junk they left here.
